James Brown had so much influence on music and dance. You can see his influence on Micheal Jackson combining signing with dancing to become the ultimate entertainer and performer. You hear his music sampled on some of the greatest Hip Hop records by Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, and Ice Cube just to name a few. The world’s most influential dancers such as the Lockers, Rock Steady, Mop Tops, and Soul Brothers were all influenced by his moves. His music inspired and empowered many African Americans and people of color. There’s no doubt the man is a legend.
Here is Cornell West’s James Brown tribute speech at the James Brown Symposium at Princeton University in 2007.
